Charles Gedney

Dr. Gedney (Chuck), the president and CEO of GedTek Consulting, has been working in marine acoustics, hydrodynamics, and related engineering and science fields since 1976, when he began his career as a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Prior to starting GedTek, Chuck was a co-owner and served as Vice President and Principal Scientist at Ocean Acoustical Services and Instrumentation Systems (OASIS) in Lexington, Massachusetts, where he was a key contributor to many projects. These included the development, integration, and at-sea testing of real-time, autonomous sonar surveillance systems; underwater noise modeling, and measurements of small autonomous undersea vehicles (AUVs); full scale sonar systems analysis and modeling; design, numerical modeling and noise prediction for marine propellers; and design, construction and usage of wind tunnels for predicting underwater noise. Clients included the U.S. Navy, NASA, Raytheon, the Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and others.

Prior to OASIS, Chuck was a Senior Scientist at Atlantic Applied Research, a small consulting firm, where he contributed to the research and development of many projects, including marine propeller noise measurements and analysis, torpedo radiated and self noise, active sonar modeling and measurements, and turbulent boundary layer analysis.

Dr. Gedney has over 50 published papers and technical reports and has been awarded 5 US patents.
